1. IntroductionView all of the free tutorials at: • Microsoft FrontPage 2003 Tutorials .
   • Read the 1st three Chapters of your text.

   • Before you begin building your web site, follow the steps on page 60 of your text to control how FrontPage
uses platform-specific features. Assume that FrontPage Server Extensions & SharePoint Services will NOT
be available.

Designing for Internet Explorer's latest versions resolves any cross-platform mania for the moment.
We can reasonably do this because most browsers at least try to be compatible with Microsoft's browser.
The result of our efforts may not be as pretty when viewed using other browsers but will be usable.
Incidentally, Firefox is the second most used browser out there today. This site is compatible
with Firefox.

   • Create your 1st FrontPage Web Site (page 10). If the folder list does not appear in step 8, try clicking
on File (on the menu bar), then click on Open Site...., then click on Open, then answer yes to the question in the
pop-up box. If this doesn't work use Creating a Web site from scratch (page 18).

   • Post at least one comment to the Web-CT discussion.

The discussion topic/topics should be obvious from the weekly assignment. Because this is a hybrid
course it has an online component, using the discussion board is required & your participation will be
evaluated as part of your monthly assessments.

Feel free to pose questions for your classmates to consider. The process of creating a coherent message
(whether a question or an answer) forces one to understand, summarize, focus, & reflect on the material
    being studied.

A dynamic atmosphere can develop in a class when participants interact & communicate with one another.
I consider the synergy generated through online discussion to be an important learning tool in your class,
enhancing your learning outcomes. Online discussions have a vital role in creating & sustaining a sense
of community and a common purpose, you are not alone.

Full participation will enrich your experience. Be active in the online discussions. Volunteer, respond, have
a go! We learn by mistakes. Don’t miss out on interactions with other students just because you’re not in a
classroom (one hour a week in a lecture environment is NOT enough interaction for optimal learning). Visit the
chat rooms on Web-CT. Use E-mail. A solid course buddy can be your best tool.
